Indo-MIM is committed to the cause of helping poor people and in order to help the society at large, the company has fully funded the establishment of a new block named as “THE CHIVUKULA WING “comprising of a laboratory (except the collection area), the Blood Bank, the Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath. Lab), the Cardiac Care Unit, and 20 Private Rooms at the Bangalore Baptist Hospital which was inaugurated by Former President Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam in January 2008. Dr. Chivukula donated $ 1 million for the noble cause providing state of the art facilities, with the intention of providing health care to the marginalized people at low cost and concessional/ free care to those who cannot afford it.

With personal involvement from Dr. Chivukula, the planning and the construction of the wing took 18 months to get solemnized. Built at an area of 21, 438.5 sq. ft., this wing has an elaborate laboratory services with a new virology facility. New tests have been introduced in Immunology (Hormone Panel), Serology (Infectious disease (e.g. Torch panel) and automation has been brought in Histopathology and Hematology. A part of the Reproductive Medicine Unit has also been added to the facilities on this floor since 2011.

At the same time, superior cardiology services are also being provided to the patients who are in need, along with Orthopedic and Opthalmic theatre complex which has been set up for providing effective surgeries in a highly sterile environment. Frozen Section in Histopathology and a TB Culture Lab are due to start this year, but the Blood Bank has already started Component Separation since 2010. The increase in private rooms has also helped to admit a large number of paying patients which has in turn helped in subsidizing the poor patient care.

While the wing is used by the hospital for the benefit of the society, the company has also established a fund at the hospital and makes monthly contribution to the fund taking care of the medical needs of very poor patients; which is entirely administered by the management of the Bangalore Baptist Hospital. The satisfaction amongst the poor families is an immense pleasure to the company.

It is with grateful hearts that we look back at the past 10 years of growth of Bangalore Baptist Hospital (BBH). Mr. Krishna Chivukula had a major role in the growth story of the hospital. It was in 2006 that through a generous donation from Indo-MIMS that we were enabled to build the Chivukula Wing. This event was the first in a series of steps which paved the way for the rapid growth of the hospital. The Chivukula Wing houses the newly expanded NABL Accredited Laboratory and the Coronary Care Unit with its modern Cardiac Catheterization Lab. The Chivukula Wing was inaugurated by the Former President of India, Dr. Abdul Kallam on 18th January 2008.

Mr. Chivukula has continued to donate towards the poor patient care fund. The health needs of the students of Government Primary School, Hebbal, have been looked after using this fund. A significant number of other deserving patients are also helped through this initiative. In addition to financial involvement, Mr. Chivukula has also been a good friend, advisor and encourager in our journey of growth and the path of ‘clinical excellence’. Thank you Indo-MIMS for partnering with us!
